Mumbai Tragedy!

November 30, 2008

It could have been me also!

I was aghast seeing those images from Mumbai on the television and the first thing which came into my mind was that what if I was there at that moment enjoying the ambiance of Taj and just going to start my dinner. Then suddenly there is this shooting and rest becomes history. What a feeling of terror I felt. Then what the public must have gone through those 60hrs of this carnage.

Its over now but what about the repercussions. Every mishap in our country is followed by certain activities for some days and then back to normal life. This is what Mumbaiwites are doing. They just want to go back to their normal life. Every individual has some work to carry out. Then who cares for the blogs, or the rallies, or the media blast on our politicians, international dialogues and comments,.Nobody is definitely not happy, so everybody is trying to show their apathy through some medium. Same way as I am writing in my blog.BUT WHAT NEXT?

All metro citizens have got so much used to such mishappenings that now they are loss of words to condemn the government even. They just confirm their near dears are fine and then they  continue with their normal life. Its such a pity. Whynot somebody can carry the action as Nasiruddin Shah’s character did in A Wednesday. Why our government is taking so much time in punishing the criminals of previous mishaps. Criminal held for 2001 Parliament mishap is still not hanged inspite of the legal decision  taken to hang him.

In my capacity , what I understand if we punish such criminals in a brutal way, never realizung the humane feeings within us , this will spread terror among the criminals to some extent atleast. Our  politics is so much busy with internal activities that topic of terrorism is reminded by the terrorists only occassionaly!

When such mishap happens then the way some people react is amazing. The act of providing food to the army in action by Sikh youths is a praisable act. Now this is called positive reaction to any mishap. Instead of sitting in front of TV and discussing politics with coffee, these youth have taken some action and came out for help in such a way.Somebody lost his wife, sister, husband, whole family. Many occupants of the hotel were foreigners, instead of making them go through their feelings by asking them same questions why not media leaves them on their own or rather help them in some other way.

What an insecure environment we are living in? We as adults can make our self strong and get our self busy in day to day activities but what about the small kids. At their age when they are supposed to live in free environment and enjoy the benefits of natural surroundings, they have to go through these terror episodes which add words like terrorists, guns, to their  vocab. In my capacity I am just trying to pray God from the soul of my heart to give these insane people some sense so that they don’t involve themsives in such dreadful activities!
